About the Lighthouse
The Bodie Island Lighthouse was erected in 1872. The original spelling in the 'cornerstone' inside the light has the spelling as Bodys.
Getting there.
The Bodie Island Lighthouse is east of Route 12 about 5 miles south of route 263. There is a good deal of parking and it is just a short walk to the lighthouse. The Lighthouse is about a half mile west of NC Highway 12. The Tall dunes make it difficult to see the lighthouse from the road. . Watch the mileage or use a GPS and look for Bodie Lighthouse Road.
